Installation issues
===================

This product requires the Microsoft Windows Installer operating system
service, which should be available on many Windows installations already.
In case this service is missing, the supplied 'Setup.exe' wrapper tries to
install an appropriate update for the operating system. This update will
usually be supplied on the local installation media, otherwise 'Setup.exe'
will offer to download it from the web automatically.
If this automatic download is not desired or otherwise impossible, the
Microsoft Windows Installer service needs to be deployed manually before
installing the product itself. The Redistributables are available via
a keyword search for 'Windows Installer Redistributable' at
'http://www.microsoft.com/downloads'.

There are a few known issues with the automatic update process:

Windows NT4:

- Microsoft Windows Installer 2.0 and above requires at least
Windows NT 4 ServicePack 6; this complies with Microsofts support and
lifecycle policy for Windows NT 4.

- The automatic download process requires at least Internet Explorer 3,
which might not be available on pure Windows NT 4 installations. To work
around this either update to at least Internet Explorer 3 or deploy the
Microsoft Windows Installer service manually as outlined above.
